The mission of the Sidewalk Program is to support the agencys goal by providing for the safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible movement of people by making sidewalks safe and accessible for all pedestrians. The candidate selected for this position will perform the following duties: perform mark-outs with the Department of Design and Construction (DDC), consultant, and contractor for pedestrian ramp construction; work closely with consultant engineers and inspectors to resolve daily issues related to sidewalk and pedestrian ramp construction. Attend progress meetings to evaluate and report on the status of the contracts; address issues that are outstanding and need to be resolved with DDC; inform DDC about the Department of Transportation's (DOT) priorities for the construction of sidewalk and pedestrian ramps; prepare reports for the Executive Director and the Chief Engineer regarding contracts; participate in construction site meetings; perform related work as assigned.- Ensure pedestrian ramp upgrades are performed in accordance with required stipulations.- Resolves issues found on site with direction from the Assistant Civil Engineers and Civil Engineers.- Mark out locations for construction- Evaluate and assess pedestrian ramps after construction. - Create field reports for any issues that require immediate attention.- Attend site meetings.- Assist with the review of designs, plans, and contract specifications/scopes.- Prepares engineering reports where needed.
Requirements
1. A baccalaureate degree in civil engineering from an accredited college. A degree in any other engineering area or in civil engineering technology is not acceptable. Experienced (non-manager)
