Pathology Aide

Job Summary and Qualifications

    • Specimen handling and preparation: 
    • Picks up specimens from designated areas. 
    • Properly accessioning, labeling, and handling a variety of specimens (i.e. surgical, biopsy). 
    • Assisting in the preparation of frozen sections during intraoperative consultations, within established protocol and procedural parameters. 
    • Labels slides and blocks appropriately 
    • Make sure stains are ready to use
    • Performs staining of frozen section slides 
    • Makes sure cases with surgical and cytology are together prior to distribution 
    • Performs slide distribution for pathologist
    • Slide and block filing 
    • Prepare slides and blocks for referrals
    • Has proper phone etiquette 

What qualifications will you need:

  • High School Graduate / GED required

Medical City Plano opened in 1975 and provides Plano and Collin County with advanced health care. Medical City Plano is a 600+ bed acute care hospital. We have more than 2,000 employees and over 1,400 physicians on staff. Our main campus in Plano has a cancer treatment center and cardiovascular programs.
