Copy of Social Security Card - requested but not required
The four (4) Essay Questions from the application
Must be a Legal Citizen of the USA or Legal Alien authorized to work in the USA by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). Proof must be shown at the time of application.
Must have adequate transportation to attend On-the-Job Learning and Related Instruction classes.
Once you have completed the ONLINE APPRENTICESHIP APPLICATION and have collected all of the above requirements, please deliver all items in person to the main office or the closest training facility.
When the application and supporting documents are submitted, applications will be checked for minimum qualifications and the pre-applicant will be notified of the date and time to return for the Applicant Orientation to complete the application process. If the applicant fails to attend the scheduled Applicant Orientation Session the application will be null and void and the applicant will be required to repeat the entire application process.
All individuals who: 1.) properly completes an online application, 2.) provides all required documents, will be notified to attend Applicant Orientation.
During the Applicant Orientation, all applications which have been numbered in sequence of receipt will be entered into the applicant log corresponding to number with progress dates and final disposition of each application. Each applicant will be required to review the Apprenticeship Standards; will be provided information regarding about the program; will be provided a Statement of Eligibility form; and be given a referral list to participating contractors for employment. Each applicant has 30 days to secure employment.
When an applicant is accepted by a Contractor he/she must return to the finishing Trades Institute of MD, VA, DC offices with a completed, signed Intent to Hire form indicating the starting date of employment at which time the eligible applicant will be recognized as a probationary apprentice. When a Candidate begins work with a signatory contractor they will become an Active Apprentice and it is at this time that they are required to attend apprenticeship classes on their own time, as scheduled, from September through June.
If an applicant has not secured employment at the end of 30 days, is the responsibility of the applicant to notify the finishing Trades Institute of MD, VA, DC office of their continued interest in pursuing apprenticeship. The interested applicant must return to the office of the finishing Trades Institute of MD, VA, DC to secure an updated Statement of Eligibility. The applicant must secure an updated Statement of Eligibility at the finishing Trades Institute of MD, VA, DC offices within 10 days of the expiration date or will be disqualified. It is the responsibility of the applicant to know the date at which to update the Statement of Eligibility form. An Applicant failing to secure an updated Statement of Eligibility within 10 days of expiration will be disqualified as an Applicant.
