BAC Local 8 of Illinois represents some of the most highly skilled trowel trades craftworkers including stone, marble and cement masons, pointers/cleaners/caulkers, tile setters, bricklayers (refractory and stone masons) and terrazzo workers. The use of masonry in building designs dates back thousands of years. The masonry and allied craftworkers trade has experienced significant innovations over the past 20 years. Major trends impacting the industry include the use of robotics or material unit lift enhancers (the MULE), prefabricated masonry and modular construction units, more sustainable green and energy efficient materials, and improved safety procedures through continuous training. BAC Local 8 offers a
streamlined entry for all H2H applicants. We try and make it very easy to get
you trained and out on to the jobsite as fast as possible.
 

This is for people who
want to get into a union apprenticeship program and drastically improve their
lifelong earning potential and quality of life.
 

We are currently getting
ready to start interviews for new apprentices and direct hires in the trowel
trades and are specifically looking for people who would be interested in
learning the trades of building with brick, block and stone . We have union contractors
throughout the state of Illinois that are looking for new apprentices and
individuals who have prior experience.
  

  • Average Starting pay is $21 per hour. Can be higher with
    experience.
     
  • Apprentices get regular pay increases throughout the
    program.
     
  • Veterans with GI Bill can receive E5 with defendant BAH per
    month on top of your hourly wages
     
  • Full Health/Dental/Optical insurance  
  • Paid for job training and tools  
  • Career growth and advancement opportunities 

Basic Requirements:   

  • Must be a minimum of 17 years old at the time of application 
  • Must have a valid driver’s license 
  • Must submit a copy of your birth certificate 
  • Must pass a drug test  
  • Must be physically able to perform the work of the trade  
  • Must understand the importance of punctuality and good
    attendance
     
  • Must have a great attitude and willingness to learn
