How to Become a SteamfitterAPPLY ONLINE!
We will no longer have In-Person Trade Orientations. All applicants must be at least 17 years old, provide a copy of their high school transcript/GED/HSED, hold a valid driver’s license, and be able to pass a drug screening. The application process includes the following steps:

  1. Visit our Applicant Portal and create an account. Click the ‘Apply Online Now’ button below to launch the Applicant Portal.
  2. Watch the Trade Orientation video. This 16-minute video is designed to familiarize you with the Steamfitting industry, how our apprenticeship program works, and how to apply. Please pay close attention because there is a quiz!
  3. Complete & Pass the Comprehension Quiz. This 22-question quiz will test your comprehension of the Trade Orientation video. You can go back to the video for reference. You must pass the quiz to access the Application Form.
  4. Complete the Online Application. Provide the required information. Applications can be saved in-progress and completed later. You’ll be required to upload proof of high school graduation (i.e. high school transcripts, GED/HSED Certificate or Award Letter. NO DIPLOMAS.)
  5. Submit Application to Steamfitters 601 for Review. Steamfitters 601 will review your application, transcripts, and test scores. Your application will either be accepted or returned to you for corrections/updates. If accepted, Steamfitters 601 will contact you via email to provide your Authorization to Test letter and instructions on scheduling your aptitude tests.
