Ironworker Apprenticeship opportunities (Apply in-person year around)
Iron workers erect, assemble and install fabricated structural metal products in the erection of industrial, commercial and large residential buildings. They also erect framework for bridges. Iron workers set reinforcing bars and steel grills, screens, fences and decorative iron work. Yet others may move heavy machinery. Most work is done outdoors. Iron workers risk injury because they work at great heights. Safety devices such as nets, scaffolding and safety belts are used. Due to the nature of the work, an iron worker cannot be afraid of working in high places, and must also have an acute awareness of the danger to themselves and others.
