IBEW Inside Wireman Electrician Apprenticeship

The Savannah ETA is an Apprenticeship Program for future Electricians. You are placed on a job with one of our surrounding Union Contractors when they have work available, and you attend our school one night a week from 6:00 PM until 10:00 PM. You will learn all aspects of electrical work (such as Commercial, Industrial, and Residential).


At Savannah Electrical Training Alliance we train people to be "Inside Wireman." An "inside wireman" is a skilled electrician who primarily installs and maintains electrical systems within commercial and industrial buildings, including wiring, conduit, lighting fixtures, and other electrical apparatuses, ensuring proper power distribution by connecting electrical equipment to the power source through carefully routed cables within the building structure; essentially, they handle all electrical work inside a building, from installing basic power outlets to complex control systems like fire alarms and HVAC units. 


In our jurisidiction we are primarily industrial electricians, we work on Industrial facilities like Nuclear and Combustion Turbine Power plants, Paper Mills, Chemical Processing facilities, Ports, Hospitals, Military Bases, and other large critical infastructure projects.



Requirements

To be qualified to be accepted into our program, you must have the listed Qualifications/Documentation requirements listed below.


Upon acquiring all Documentation(1-7), call our office to schedule your time to come in to fill out an application in our office and submit to a Background Check.


You will then be scheduled for an Aptitude Test consisting of Reading Comprehension and Math.Your interview will then be scheduled to appear before the Apprenticeship Committee. Upon acceptance, you will be placed in the pool of eligible candidates to begin school at the start of the next school year and be placed on the work list.


1. Must be 18 years old


2. Valid GA Driver’s License (Valid ID is not acceptable ~ must be a Driver’s License.)


3. Social Security Card


4. Birth Certificate


5. Official High School Transcripts (One-year completed/passed Algebra) 1.00 full credit


6. High School Diploma or GED (GED testing scores are not acceptable)


7. OSHA 10 Card (https://www.careersafeonline.com/courses/osha-10-hour/construction )
