The International Association of Heat and Frost Insulators and Allied Workers (HFIAW or Insulators) is a trade union in the United States and Canada. The primary focus of the union is to assist its membership in securing employment, to defend their rights and advance their interests as working men and women, and by education and cooperation, raise them to that position in society to which they are justly entitled. WORK IS INSTALLED BY OUR PROFESSIONAL MECHANICAL INSULATORS THAT HAVE ACHIEVED JOURNEYMAN STATUS IN THE UNION THROUGH A MULTI-YEAR CLASSROOM AND 1,600 HOUR PER YEAR ON-THE-JOB TRAINING PROGRAM ALONG SIDE THOSE WHO ARE LEARNING THE TRADE.

Requirements

Basic Qualifications: At least 18 years of age. High School education or G.E.D. equivalent. Physically fit to perform the work of the trade. Applicant may be subject to a physical agility test, fitness test or screen for the use of illegal drugs. Applicant must have reliable transportation.  Applicant must have English speaking, reading and language comprehension sufficient to perform the work of the trade. Familiarity with construction is helpful, but not required. Applicants must submit a DD-214 to verify military training and / or experience if they are a veteran and wish to receive consideration for such training.
