Job Description


The work of the Mechanical System Insulator includes the insulation of both industrial and commercial mechanical systems (i.e., piping, boilers, duct work, storage tanks, and equipment) for the purpose of energy savings, burn protection and to control system heat transfer and condensation. Industrial applies to power plants, chemical process plants, refineries, natural gas Industry, steel mills, etc. Commercial applies to schools, hospitals, offices, etc. The Mechanical System Insulator may also be state licensed for asbestos abatement. 


The Insulator works with many types of insulating materials, mastics, vapor barriers and protective jacketing. Work is done using a wide variety of hand and power tools
